Seed-to-Sale Integration

OCM announces STS Integration virtual trainings for licensees and third party integrators.

Overview

A Seed-to-Sale (STS) system tracks the lifecycle of cannabis from the time a plant is planted through harvest, processing, packaging, laboratory testing and sale of completed cannabis product(s) to a consumer. To ensure regulatory compliance, all licensees are required to secure an electronic inventory tracking system that is capable of integrating with the NY STS Tracking System (BioTrack).

Additionally, permitted laboratories are required to send cannabis product laboratory testing data for licensees to BioTrack. A STS system helps the Office of Cannabis Management (Office) regulate the adult-use and medical cannabis industries by providing insight into the supply chain.

The BioTrack NY Application Programming Interface (API) is now available. Licensees must notify the Office of Cannabis Management (Office) of the inventory tracking system vendor that will integrate with the NY STS Tracking System (BioTrack) by January 17, 2025.

BioTrack API Training Webinars

In preparation for the upcoming BioTrack STS integration, the Office has announced scheduled BioTrack training webinars for licensees and third party integrators.

Third party integrators are the vendors who provide your inventory tracking system. To make the integration of your inventory tracking system with NYS BioTrack as seamless as possible, it is highly recommended that integrators attend the training sessions.

The training dates and topics are noted below. An email containing instructions on how to register for trainings was sent to all licensees on December 9, 2024. Please review your email and use the links provided there to register for any training(s) you or your third party integrator would like to attend.

BioTrack API Test Environment Onboarding

The API provides a Sandbox (Test) environment that inventory tracking system vendors and Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) vendors can utilize to establish integration with the NY STS Tracking System.

Access BioTrack API Test Environment

To maintain a secure environment, all inventory tracking and LIMS vendors must create an account and register through the BioTrack Integrator Portal. This portal enables vendors to manage API keys and receive notifications about system updates.

Access BioTrack Sandbox (Test) Integrator Portal

For support, software vendors may contact BioTrack at [email protected], and licensees may reach BioTrack at [email protected]. Webinars will soon be scheduled for integrators and licensees, with further details and scheduling information forthcoming.

Inventory Tags

An inventory tag contains a unique 16-digit identifier. The unique identifiers tied to each tag are representative of one piece of inventory.

To ensure unique identification of inventory, licensees will purchase inventory tags from BioTrack in advance of entering inventory into the STS system. OCM will cover a total of $250,000 in tag purchases across licensees at the launch of the project. Additional details will be made available as the program is rolled out with the vendor and licensees.
